Mumbai: Two persons have lied in separate accidents on the Western Express Highway (WEH). On February 1, a 60-year-old man was killed at Center Bridge in Vile Parle, while a 47-year-old man died on Magathane Bridge in Borivali on February 3.
About The Accident
On February 3, at 5 am, a speeding southbound (from Dahisar) car lost control at Magathane bridge, crossed the divider, and entered the northbound lane, colliding with a BEST bus. The bus driver attempted to steer left to avoid the collision, but the steering got stuck due to the sudden impact, causing the bus to cross the divider as well. The bus’s front left tyre punctured in the process and came to a halt, trapping the car driver, Amit Agarwal, inside his vehicle.

Police and fire brigade extracted Agarwal from the car and took him to Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali West, where he was pronounced dead. The bus driver and conductor at the scene were identified as Amrutlal Pal and Bhailal Nohar, respectively. The Kasturba Police registered a case against Agarwal.
About The Other Accident
On February 1, an unidentified vehicle rammed into a 60-year-old pedestrian on the slope at the Center Bridge in the northbound lane of WEH. The police, along with bystanders, transported the injured man to Cooper Hospital in Juhu at 12.15 am but he was pronounced dead at 2.30 am. The police did not find any identification documents or a mobile phone with him. They have filed a case against an unidentified motorist.
