New Delhi: Delhi Traffic Police has announced an advisory for commuters regarding traffic restrictions due to the Republic Day parade's full dress rehearsal on January 23, 2025. These restrictions will be active from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm, and the police urge passengers to avoid certain routes. The parade route includes Vijay Chowk, Kartavyapath, C-Hexagon, and Red Fort.
In the recent X post by the official page of Delhi Traffic Police (@dtptraffic) the traffic police department informed about the instilled traffic advisory in detail. The post caption reads: "Traffic Advisory In view of Full Dress #RepublicDay Parade Rehearsal on 23rd January, 2025, special traffic arrangements will be effective on various routes. Please follow the advisory. #DPTrafficAdvisory"
Key restrictions begin January 22, with traffic prohibited from Vijay Chowk to India Gate from 6 pm until the parade concludes. Additionally, cross traffic will be barred from 11 pm on January 22 at Rafi Marg, Janpath, and Man Singh Road. C-Hexagon will close at 9:15 am on January 23 until the parade passes Tilak Marg, and no traffic will be permitted on Tilak Marg, BSZ Marg, and Subhash Marg from 10:30 am that day.
Alternate routes for the North-South Corridor include Ring Road from Ashram Chowk to Sarai Kale Khan and other specified roads. The East-West Corridor also provides alternate paths, utilizing Ring Road and surrounding areas. Furthermore, Delhi Metro services will remain operational during the rehearsal, ensuring public transit availability on January 23.
The Delhi Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory indicating that no heavy, medium, or light goods vehicles will be allowed to enter Delhi from 9 pm on January 22 until the completion of full dress rehearsals for the Republic Day parade on January 23, with exemptions for essential services. The advisory also includes guidelines for nearby areas such as Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Gautam Buddh Nagar (Noida), and Gurugram. Commuters are advised to stay informed about traffic restrictions.
Suggested alternate routes include the Inner Ring Road from IP College to Azadpur Chowk, GTK Road from Shakti Nagar to Azadpur Chowk, Chhatrasal Stadium Road from Gujrawala Town, and Burari Chowk to Vijay Nagar T-Point via Camp Chowk. Additionally, the January 25 Republic Day celebration at Chhatrasal Stadium, hosted by Chief Minister Atishi, is expected to draw around 250 buses and 1,000 light vehicles, potentially causing congestion.
Security preparations for the January 26 Republic Day celebrations are in full swing, prompting the Delhi Police to ban operations of all sub-conventional aerial platforms, effective until February 1. This includes paragliders, UAVs, hot air balloons, and more. Violators will be punishable under section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
